In 1954, Luigi Orsi began to work in a small building in Melegnano (Milan), producing pipes and small stainless steel tanks. In 1956, the business was transferred to a new building in Carpiano that, with later additions, became the current seat.

Year after year, the business grows and the initial product range is extended to fittings and pressure vessels for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The production is divided into different departments (pipes, fittings, pressure vessels), hence the name "Officine" Orsi. The company took advantage of the years of the Italian industrial growth of the 60s and started to expand and to use more and more exotic materials.

In 1976, Angelo Orsi, son of the founder, gives a new impulse and widen his father’s activity. Within a few years, the range of materials is extended to all Nickel Alloys resistant to corrosion and high temperatures.

The company’s turnover increases steadily and its dimensions as well. Officine Orsi becomes well known also abroad especially for being able to provide a full range of products tailored to each application, for chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The application field of products is further extended to offshore and oil & gas, introducing new materials such as Titanium and newer Duplex stainless steels, Superduplex and Superaustenitic. In 1998, Mr. Angelo Orsi’s sons, Marco and Luca, joined the company, the third generation, helping their father in the business management. The company keeps on going the path, looking for continuous improvement of its products quality and has started to obtain important international certification like ISO 9001.

The layout of the production departments are further modified and extended. The management system of welding processes is certified by TÜV in accordance with UNI EN ISO 3834-2. The company is qualified by TUV for the supply of products which comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC and the AD 2000-W0 MERKBLATT and HPO.

The dimensions range for welded pipes is furtherly extended. A new department for heavy wall pipes up to 12 mt in length is started. At present the company employs 80 people and occupies an area of 22,000 square meters, of which 13,000 are covered. Important certifications from TUV are obtained for the production of components for the Nuclear field, as well as Statoil certification for production according to Norsok M650, ISO 14001 for environment and OHSAS 18001 for the safety from Lloyd's Register and recently ASME U-Stamp.
